AMS Drop off and Pick up Procedures

 

To ensure student safety and maintain an efficient traffic flow, please carefully review and follow the procedures below for arrival and dismissal.

Morning Arrival: Drop-Off

  • Buses arrive between 7:20 and 7:30 a.m. and release students at 7:30 am, when school opens.
  • Parent drop-off may begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. after the buses leave.
  • In bad weather, doors may open earlier, and students should report directly to the auditorium. 
  • When dropping off, please move your car as soon as your child exits to avoid traffic backups.
  • Guardians may drop off and pick up students in front of the school or along High Street.
  • Do NOT use Lancaster Street for drop-off or pick-up. This street is reserved for staff parking access and must remain clear.
    • It is too narrow to safely accommodate buses, drop-offs, and cars entering the lot at the same time becoming congested and can back up into nearby intersections, creating a safety hazard for all involved.
  • If your student is walking to school or crossing the street, please ensure they use the designated crosswalks.

Afternoon Dismissal

AMS uses staggered dismissal times to reduce congestion and promote safety:

  • Busers are dismissed from class at 2:29 p.m.
  • Car riders and walkers are dismissed at 2:35 p.m.
    • If a student is being picked up before 2:35, they must be signed out through the front office.
    • Once the second bell rings at 2:35, students are free to leave without being signed out.
